STEP 2: How does a film review look like?

A review gives information and opinions about a book, a film or a show. They are written to help people decide whether or not to read or to go to see it. It is usually informative and includes an opinion or recommendation.

STEP 3: Write a film review

Write a film review on your favourite film ever. Follow all the steps of the writing plan:

Writing Plan

1. Introduce basic info and outline the plot:

Give the name of the film and brief description

 

Tip: Fantastic Beasts is a fantasy film .... directed by .../ ...set in a magical world... / It tells the story of...

2. Give more info on the plot and the characters: 

Tip: The main character is ... /The plot involves Newt S, who is a great magician, and ... / The action begins when... 

What I really liked about the film... / The soundtrack is amazing/awful.../ It contains powerful scenes...

3. Mention what you liked the most/least:

Tip: What I liked the most .../ What I liked the least...

What I found absolutely amazing was.. //What reallly impressed me was... / I particularly enyoyed was...

3. Present the writer's opinion & recommendation

Tip: I would highly recommend ... I was impressed by...

This film is not to be missed! ... On a scale from zero to five, I give this film a 5... I certainly wouldn't recommend this film, because....

I'm afraid "X" is a complete waste of time and money

Writing Assignment 1: 

A description of one of the members of the school staff :-)

You have to write a description of one of the members of the school staff. It can either be a teacher, a concierge, cleaning staff... It has to be someone who belongs to our school community. 

STEP 1: Thinking and drafting  

1. THINK... who am I going to choose? and why?

2. Do I know this person well? How can I find more information about him/her? 

3. What questions am I going to ask her/him? When ? How?

 

Write the answers to these questions in your notebook. You can't start STEP 2 until the teacher tells you so.

STEP 2: Turning your interview into a descriptive text

Your description must include the following:

1. Introduce the person and say how you know him /her

2. Describe his /her free-time activities and interests

3. Describe his/her personality

4. Give closing comments and your opinion
